Curriculum

Our Science Curriculum follows the National Curriculum for science and has been designed with reference to guidance provided by the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT). We are committed to making science hands-on, practical and driven by child-led learning and, as with all our subjects, mastering vocabulary and key science concepts play a major part in all teaching sequences. The document below is the science curriculum for our two-year cycle of learning for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.  Science for Early Years is encompassed in the strand, 'Understanding the World'.  There is a separate Early Years document which highlights opportunities for children to explore the world around them. EYFS and KS1 classes also have an 'I Wonder...' board which poses scientific questions.  Staff and children worked together to establish a set of science principles for good learning and these are shown below.
