Further Information
Our SEND Policy
All schools must have a SEND Policy that sets out their vision for SEND. Our SEND Policy has been written to provide clear information to all members of our community including governors, teachers and parents.
The Local Offer
The Local Offer provides information for children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place. It shows families what they can expect from a range of local agencies including education, health and social care.
The Local Offer can be found here: https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/children-and-families/send-local-offer
If you have trouble accessing information online, you could get help at your local library. Alternatively, contact send@norfolk.gov.uk, telling them the information you would like, along with your name and postal address.
The SEND Code of Practice
All decisions that we make with regards to SEND are guided by the SEND Code of Practice. The SEND Code of Practice (2014) covers the 0-25 age range and includes guidance relating to disabled children and young people as well as those with SEN. The code encompasses the Children’s and Family Act and some of its aims are to ensure:
- There is a clearer focus on the participation of children and young people and parents in decision-making at individual and strategic levels.
- There is a stronger focus on high aspirations and on improving outcomes for children and young people.
- There is guidance for education settings on taking a graduated approach to identifying and supporting pupils and students who may need SEN Support.
- There is guidance on the assessment process for children and young people with complex needs who may need an ECH Plan.
- There is a greater focus on support that enables those with SEN to succeed in their education and make a successful transition to adulthood
The SEND Code of Practice can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/send-code-of-practice-0-to-25
