Science

On Wednesday 21st January 2026, Great Hockham Primary School was lucky enough to have a very special guest, Tom, for a Science Show, created by the Norwich Science Festival! Tom very kindly told us all about some lovely scientists.

Marie Curie, who is famous for pioneering research on radioactivity and discovering the elements polonium and radium.

Charles Darwin, who was an English naturalist, geologist and biologist, renowned for developing the theory of evolution by natural selection. He specialised in studying species variation, plant fertilization, barnacle classification and earthworms.

Mae Jemison, who specialised in engineering and science education. She was the first African American in space, in 1992. She conducted experiments on bone cells and space sickness.

Children got the chance to help out with the show by interacting and joining in. It was an extraordinary experience, and all enjoyed it!
